Was born in Russia and trained at the Vaganova Ballet Academy on 1992 in St Petersburg. In 1992 he joined the Kirov Ballet as a solois. In 2000 joined the Dutch National Ballet as a Principal. Joined The Royal Ballet as a Principal in September 2003. Since December 2011 - Artistic Director of State Ballet of Russia.

Gold Medal in the International Maya Plisetskaya Competition (1994)
