Samuel started full time dance training at the age of eleven, attending The Arts Educational School Tring Park, where he had the opportunity to perform with English National Ballet in productions of The Nutcracker, Swan Lake and Romeo & Juliet. He danced with the London Children's Ballet for two years, then went on to perform principal roles at the National Youth Ballet where he was awarded the Bronze Statuette. At Tring Park, Samuel danced the Drummer Boy solo from Graduation Ball at the Gothenburg Opera House in 2009, participated in an exchange with the Belarus State Ballet school and performed works by Robert Cohan and Richard Alston. He has been the recipient of the Barbara Fewster Scholarship and twice runner up at the Barbara Geoghegan Cecchetti Awards and was runner up the Spoleto International Dance Competition 2009. In January 2010, Samuel won the Critics' Circle National Dance Award for Student of the Year, which was presented by Dame Monica Mason.
