Oscar Burciaga has a BFA degree in Mexican Folklore and Modern Dance from the Universidad de Colima, Mexico. He has toured Mexico, Europe, and the United States extensively with the Ballet Folklorico de la Universidad de Colima for six years under the direction of Rafael Zamarripa, earning dancer of the year in 1999. Teaching Mexican Folklore for International Mariachi Conferences throughout Texas, New Mexico, Arizona, and California, Mr. Burciaga has been fortunate in working with some of world’s greatest mariachi ensembles such as Mariachi Vargas de Tecalitlan, Los Camperos de Nati Cano, and Mariachi Cobre. In San Diego, Mr. Burciaga has appeared as a dancer in the San Diego Opera’s productions of La Traviata in 2004, and Die Fledermaus in 2005.

He joined the California Ballet Company in 2002, and was promoted to Soloist in 2006.
