Mikko Lampinen was born in Jyväskylä and began his ”artistic” career when he was 6 years old by performing the role of the dwarf in Marjo Kuusela`s work, Hyrrä in Pori Theatre. He has studied music in the school music class and dance in the Liisa Nojonen Dance School\'s special training classes, in the Kuopio Dance and Music festivals summer courses, and in the Liisa Nojonen Dance School\'s intensive courses and workshops. Mikko Lampinen has studied with Ray Tadio, Jorma Uotinen, P. Bruno Vandelli and Pjotr Nardelli. He has taken part in the Eurovision Young Dancer competition and was a finalist in the Stora Daldansen i Moran. He has won several Finnish championships in dance. Significant teachers in his studies include Saima Kranig, Mirja-Liisa Herhi, Maj-Lis Rajala, Aleksander Kikinov, Maija Jussila, Tero Saarinen, Marjo Kuusela, Tommi Kitti, William Spencer, Alan Danielsson, Pattie Obey and Liisa Nojonen, amongst others. After a period as a trainee, Mikko was put under contract as a permanent member of PDC at the beginning of 2002. With grants from the Wihuri foundation and Finland\'s Cultural Foundation Mikko Lampinen studied at the Alvin Ailey Dance School in America in summer 2004. He has danced with the PDC in the following choreographers works: Jorma Uotinen, William Spencer, Ray Tadio, Frank Chaves, Pattie Obey, Liisa Nojonen, Tero Saarinen, Kati Aalto, Tommi Kitti and Marjo Kuusela. Mikko has performed with PDC on tour in Finland and represented Finland for example in the following festivals: Kuopio 2002, 2003; Germany 1999, 2003; South-Korea 1997, 2000, 2001, 2003; Holland 2001, 2002; France 2002; Scotland 2003 and America 2004.
