Classical Ballet / Soloist

Born in Belfast, Melissa trained there at The Jennifer Bullick School of Ballet. At the age of 16, she joined Elmhurst Ballet School where she was taught by Masha Mukhamedo, whom after she left the school trained her privately. She won the Youth American Grand Prix in 2007.

She joined The Royal Ballet in 2007 and was promoted to soloist in June 2010. In the 2009/10 season, while still a first artist in the corps de ballet, Melissa made her debuts as Mary Vetsera in Kenneth MacMillan’s Mayerling, in the pas de deux of Balanchine’s Agon alongside Carlos Acosta, and as the lead female role in Christopher Wheeldon’s Tryst.
