May Yen graduated from Western Australian Academy of Performing Arts where she was award the Finley Award, Dame Peggy van Praag Award and the Leinster Dance Scholarship. Originally born in Malaysia, she started ballet at the age of 4 and moved to Australia at the age of 6.
