Classical Ballet / Dancer

Layla trained at the Royal Ballet School where she created the role of The Bird in Matthew Hart’s Peter and the Wolf and worked with the Royal Ballet Company in Ashton’s Cinderella. After graduating, Layla went on to further her studies at London Studio Centre gaining a BA Honours degree. While performing with Images of Dance, she worked with Christopher Hampson, Cathy Marston, Matthew Hart, Michael Corder and Adam Cooper, and danced Liberty Bell in Balanchine’s Stars and Stripes.

Layla then joined Ballet Ireland for their Fireworks tour and later danced with Adam Cooper and Oxana Panchenko in a gala performance of Peter Darrell’s Jeux in Glasgow.

In 2005, Layla joined English National Ballet, where she danced in Nureyev’s Romeo & Juliet, Macmillan’s Sleeping Beauty, Derek Deane’s Romeo and Juliet, Christopher Hampson’s The Nutcracker, Skeaping’s Giselle and Deane’s Swan Lake.

Layla has since danced in Ben Love’s The Mayfly, Madonna’s short film Filth and Wisdom, and featured in the Marriott Hotel commercial campaign. She also danced in Margot (BBC4 drama, 2009) and featured in the 3D feature film Streetdance (2009). Layla was recently filmed dancing for an Ertu Culture Channel Ident Commercial (Craig Hadley, KEMISTRY).

Layla first danced with Scottish Ballet in 2007 and has Performed with the Company in Page’s The Sleeping Beauty (Pina & Aurora’s friend), Cheating, Lying, Stealing (Quartet) and The Nutcracker, Alston's Carmen and Balanchine’s Rubies.
