At the age of five, Kensuke began studying ballet in the USA and continued his training at Mie Hatanaka Ballet Studio in Japan. In 2006, he joined the summer programme of San Francisco Ballet School on a full scholarship, and later went to The Washington School of Ballet, also on full scholarship. There, he was trained by Kee-Juan Han, Carlos Valcarcel and Rudolf Kharatian.
