Classical Ballet / Principal
Gary was born in Ipswich. He began ballet classes aged twelve, studying locally, then at the Doreen Bird College of Performing Arts and The Royal Ballet Upper School. He danced in the 1989 Royal Ballet School performance at the Royal Opera House, and also at the subsequent performances in Holland Park when he appeared as the Young man in Ashton\'s The Two Pigeons and the White Pas de deux in Les Patineurs. He joined The Royal Ballet in September 1989, was promoted to First Artist in September 1993 and Soloist in September 1995. He left the Company in January 1999 to co-found Tetsuya Kumakawa’s new company. In 2002 he joined ENB as a First Soloist and later rejoined The Royal Ballet in September 2004.
