David Van Ligon was born in Dallas, Texas and raised in South Carolina. At 16, he was invited to study at the San Francisco Ballet School on full scholarship, and the following season joined the professional division of the Pacific Northwest Ballet. From 2005-2009 he danced with Nevada Ballet Theatre as a soloist where he performed leading roles in George Balanchine’s Rubies, Serenade, Who Cares?, and Allegro Brilliante, as well as in Val Caniparoli’s Lambarena. He has performed at The Kennedy Center in Washington DC as well as the National Theatre of Korea. David danced with Ballet Austin before joining Company C Contemporary Ballet in 2010.
