Caroline Betancourt was born and raised in Miami, FL where she started dancing at the age of three. She studied ballet at the Miami Conservatory of Ballet under Mariana Alvarez-Brake. She attended New World School of the Arts high school where she continued to study ballet and modern. Under the diligent guidance of her instructors she has been able to participate in numerous ballet competitions. Caroline won her first competition, the American Ballet Competition, at age fifteen. At seventeen, she was honored to participate in the VIII USA International Ballet Competition in Jackson, MS, known to many as the Olympics of ballet. In 2009, she was privileged to compete in the Tenth New York International Ballet Competition with Benjamin Needham-Wood – being one of twenty-four couples from around the world chosen to compete. In June 2010, she received her BFA in ballet from the University of Cincinnati’s College-Conservatory of Music. This is Caroline’s first season with the Louisville Ballet
