Audra Johnson returns to American Repertory Ballet for her seventh season. A New Jersey native, she began her early training with Christine Taylor and Luba Gulyaeva, then continued her studies at The Harid Conservatory and The Atlanta Ballet Center for Dance Education. Since joining ARB, Audra has performed a variety of roles such as The Sugar Plum Fairy in Graham Lustig's The Nutcracker, The Fairy Godmother in Graham Lustig's Cinderella, featured duets in Twyla Tharp's Octet, Susan Shields' I heart Kenji, and featured solos. She has also enjoyed performing in Twyla Tharp's Baker's Dozen, excerpts from Val Caniparoli's Lambarena, and in original works such as Harrison McEldowney's Menage a Cinque and Kirk Peterson's Roses and Clover. She has had roles created for her by Lauri Stallings, Melissa Barak, Laney Englehard, Graham Lustig, and Bat Abbit. Before joining ARB, she danced with Atlanta Ballet, Roxey Ballet, and New Jersey Ballet performing George Balachine's Serenade, Michael Pink's Dracula and Romeo and Juliet, John McFall's Peter Pan, and Petipa's Giselle. Audra has also enjoyed participating in Come Unity, an annual dance fundraiser that raises funds to build wells in Africa. She would like to thank her husband, family, and friends for their continued love, encouragement, and support. Photo by Valerie Ford.
