Armando Braswell, born in Brooklyn, New York, received his dance training at the Alvin Ailey School, The School of American Ballet and the Juilliard School, where he graduated with a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Dance in 2006. Armando then moved to Germany to dance with Ballet Theatre Munich under the direction of Philip Taylor. In 2007, he became a founding member of Gauthier Dance//Dance Company Theaterhaus Stuttgart. His repertoire includes choreographies by Eric Gauthier, Richard Alston, George Balanchine, Mauro Bigonzetti, Carolyn Carlson, Nacho Duato, Elliot Feld, William Forsythe, Jiří Kylián, Paul Lightfoot & Sol León, José Limón, Hans van Manen, Francesco Nappa, Christian Spuck and Philip Taylor. As aspiring choreographer Armando Braswell’s ballets are featured by numerous competitions and festivals such as the 22nd International Competition for Choreographers in Hanover, the 13th International Solo Dance Theatre Festival in Stuttgart, the 2009 Tanzwelten Festival at State Theatre Brunswick and the Noverre-Gesellschaft Stuttgart. For the two Gauthier Dance editions of Out of the Box he choreographed On My Side (2009), Tight Spaces (2010) and The Three Little Pigs (2010).
