Santos Andre


Classical Ballet / Dancer

Born in São Paulo, Brazil and started dancing when he was nine years old at the Art Dancing Group and received a scholarship to join the Pavilhão D Dance School, where he studied for six years. During this time Andre won gold medals at Joinville Dance Festival (2004, 2005 and 2006) Passo de Arte (2004, 2005 and 2006) and CBDD Competition at the Brazilian Council of Dance (2005). In 2006 Andre was a finalist at the Youth America Grand Prix in New York where he won a full scholarship to the New Zealand School of Dance and subsequently graduated in 2009. During his time at New Zealand School of Dance he won second runner up and audience choice at the Alana Haines Australasian Awards in Auckland, New Zealand. Andre made his debut with West Australian Ballet as a guest artist for the Company’s season of Romeo and Juliet, in which he performed his favourite role so far as a beggar.
