Contemporary dance / Dancer

Alice Macann began dancing when she was three years old, studying ballet and then later, modern dance. In 2005 Alice was accepted into the Junior Associated programme for the NZSD as a contemporary major, and remained a part of the programme for four years. In 2009 she began her fultime studies at NZSD as a contemporary major. By the end of that first year she had received the Katrina Todd scholarship. In 2010 Alice performed in works by Sarah Foster, Raewyn Hill and Jiri Kylian. In her final year of training Alice spent time with Tasdance, Expressions Dance Company, Sydney Dance Company, Black Grace and Australian Dance Theatre. In 2011 Alice also choreographed a work called ‘Ignite’ for the NZSD Choreographic Season ‘Sketch’, and at the end of that year she performed works by Maria Dabrowska, Paul Taylor and Ross McCormack in the NZSD Graduation Season. Soon after graduating Alice performed a duet and solo in New Caledonia choreographed by Victoria Colombus. Alice is very excited to be working with Footnote in 2012.
