Alessandra Tognoloni was born in Gubbio, Italy. She received her first ballet training from 1992 until 1999 at a private ballet school in her home town. In 1999 she went to the Municipal Ballet School in Florence for one year, afterwards she was trained at the Scuola del Teatro dell’Opera in Rome for another year. In 2001 she attended the John Cranko School in Stuttgart where she graduated in 2003. In addition to that she trained at the Broadway Dance Center, New York, for three weeks. In 2000 she attended a summer course at the English National Ballet in London and in 2002 she participated in an exchange programme of the John Cranko-School with the National Ballet of Canada.

She has already been taking part successfully in several competitions. In 1998 she won the first prize an the Praga Dance Festival. She won the second prize at the International Dance Week in Perugia, Italy (1999), as well as at the Polyakon Competition in Florence (2002).
