Ng Alayna

Classical Ballet / Dancer

Wellington-born, Alayna Ng has been dancing since the age of four. Alayna graduated from the New Zealand School of Dance in 2006 with a National Certificate in Dance Performance. Her performance of George Balanchine’s virtuosic pas de deux Tarantella during the school’s Graduation Season was described by Maggie Foyer, Dance Europe, as “feminine charm in a crowd pleasing display of one upmanship”.

While still a student, Alayna performed with the RNZB during seasons of The Wedding and Giselle, before joining the company in 2007. Performance highlights include dancing one of the cygnets in Swan Lake and a role as one of Mercedes’ flirty girlfriends in Don Quixote.

Alayna thoroughly enjoyed her first visit and international tour to China with the company. Since the 2007 trip she has started learning Mandarin with fellow dancer Alessia Lugoboni. Last year she enjoyed taking part in the company’s dance education programme, Dance Explorer.

Most recently Alayna performed in the triple bill season of From Here to There, featuring the piece A Million Kisses to My Skin.
