Abigail Mentzer, born in Abington, Pennsylvania, grew up in New York City where she attended the The School of American Ballet for 10 years. While in New York, she performed numerous children's roles with New York City Ballet and New York City Opera. After spending a season with Miami City Ballet, she joined Pennsylvania Ballet II in 2002.

Ms. Mentzer was promoted to Apprentice with Pennsylvania Ballet in 2004 and was promoted to the Corp de Ballet in 2005. She has performed lead Butterfly inA Midsummer Night's Dream, Peasant Pas de Deux in Giselle, and Bluebird in The Sleeping Beauty. She also performed Pas de Quatre in Christopher Wheeldon's premiere production of Swan Lake in 2004 and at the Edinburgh International Festival in Scotland in 2005. In addition, Ms. Mentzer was featured as the Red Lady and the Lonely Bride in Matthew Neenan's Carmina Burana.
