Classical Ballet / Dancer
Aaron Smyth was born on the Gold Coast, Australia. He began his training at age 8 with Dianne Talbot, Joy and Dawn Ransley and Prudence Bowen. Smyth studied on full scholarship at the Jacqueline Kennedy Onassis School at American Ballet Theatre, under the direction of Franco DeVita. His roles at the JKO School included Flames of Paris pas de deux, Blue Bird from The Sleeping Beauty, and leading roles in Jessica Lang’s Le Belle Danse and Oblivion. He has performed at the Metropolitan Opera House for ABT’s 2009 Spring Gala, the AT&T Medalists Encore Gala in Jackson, Mississippi, and the Royal Academy of Dancing’s Gala in Tokyo, Japan. Smyth was awarded the RAD Solo Seal Award and was a top four finalist in the “Australia’s Got Talent” 2008 TV series. He won the Gold Medal at the Genee International Ballet Competition and the Bravo Audience Choice Award in Toronto, Canada. He was a finalist at the 2010 Prix de Lausanne, placed in the top 12 at the 2010 Youth America Grand Prix in New York City and won the Bronze Medal at the 2010 South African International Ballet Competition.
Smyth joined ABT II in April 2010.
