Seoul Ballet Theatre

Seoul Ballet Theatre wasestablished in 1995 with
a vision to expand the dance community in Korea through unique productions catering to Korean tastes. With a passion unyielding to challenges, Seoul Ballet Theatre served as a pioneer in many respects, becoming the first dance company in Korea to successfully complete a long-term 40-day performance, and being the first to export productions to overseas dance companies. Seoul Ballet Theatre has already created over 50 original productions.

Through pieces such as "Alice in Wonderland", "Snow White", and "Nutcracker", created for the entire family, and "Fun Ballet" where the audience participates in learning the basics of ballet, Seoul Ballet Theatre has led the way in the popularization of ballet in Korea. It has also firmly found its true color through artistically unique works such as "Being 1,2,3", "Blue", and "Spring, Stream".

By touring not only in major cities such as Seoul, but in smaller cities around the country, Seoul Ballet Theatre truly reaches out to the audience, while promoting rural culture development by encouraging young residents of the area to take part in the performance.

In 2001, Seoul Ballet Theatre's choreographer, James Jeon became the first Korean choreographer to export his original work to the Nevada Ballet Theatre. In doing so, he paved the way in opening up overseas cultural markets, and is bringing international cultural exchange to a new level through numerous joint and gala performances.

There is no end to Seoul Ballet Theatre's creative development. In 2006, Mozart's "The Wedding of Figaro" was re-created into a ballet, bringing the two genres of art into a new dimension. In 2007, Seoul Ballet Theatre entered into a new partnership with CJ Culture Foundation enabling both parties to enhance its capacity to contribute to Korea's ballet culture.
