Jang Seon Hee Ballet

Jang Seonhee Ballet Company is recognized as one of the great dance companies in Korea. Few ballet companies equal Jang Seonhee Ballet Company for its combination of creative performances and outreach. Recognized as a living national treasure since its founding in 1988, Jang Seonhee Ballet Company annually stages creative contemporary ballet productions.

When Jang Seonhee Ballet Company was launched in 1988, the aim was not only to develop a repertoire of the best ballet from the past, but also to encourage the creation of new works. Under the direction of Jang Seonhee, the Company more than fulfilled that aim. The repertoire includes the full-length classic ballets, such as Romeo & Juliet and Paquita, re-choreographed by Jang Seonhee. The company has also devoted to creating contemporary works including Soomook, Hwangjinee, A Midsummer Night’s Dream, Seven Variations Regarding Love, Time for Reading Poems, Faust, Merry Ballet Christmas, Hello! This is Ballet, and Butterfly.
