Born in Singapore, Elaine trained at the Singapore Ballet Academy from the age of six. As a student, she had the opportunity to perform in many of SDT's productions such as The Nutcracker, The Red Shoes, Coppélia, The Legacy of Goh Choo San, as well as in the Royal Ballet's Swan Lake when they toured to Singapore in 2005.
